Risks of Illegal Import and Export Cargo

In many developing countries, customs authorities have weak management systems for illegal and high-risk import/export cargo (especially LCL cargo). This results in smuggling incidents that cause national financial losses, social conflicts, and threats to international security.

Solutions and Strategic Initiatives

In response, the Korea FTA Rules of Origin Research Association Inc. is pursuing collaboration with the Korea Customs and Trade Development Institute, which specializes in bonded cargo management, in the ODA customs administration support sector—particularly in projects aimed at establishing a GPS-based electronic tracking and surveillance system for illegal and high-risk import/export cargo.
